Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (TOFGA) is growing and yet it is still a volunteer organization. If you are not a current TOFGA member, we invite you to join or renew your membership

1. Renewable Energy Round Up - Fredricksburg, Tx - September 25-28 Need two people or a couple to serve as TOFGA's new Bookstore Managers for Fredricksburg and TCOOPS 2009. Training will be provided by Tony Manasseri and his wife Mary Ann (current managers) during Fredricksburg. This is a very important job and you will have lots of support.
2. East Texas New Farmers Workshop - Kilgore, Tx - Saturday, September 13th --- Need to Contact As Soon As Possible! Volunteers will be needed for registration, the TOFGA table, hospitality, farm tours. 3. New Farmers Workshop - Field Day at Chapin Farms -north of Fort Worth, Tx - Date TBA

4. State Fair Booth - Dallas, Tx - September 26 - October 19 - TOFGA Booth in Food and Fiber Building
Several volunteers to man the booth. These volunteers will not only tell the story of TOFGA but also promote their own farms and ranches to many potential local consumers.
5. ECO-Fair - Wichita Falls Need volunteers to man TOFGA booth at event.
6. Volunteer Artists for TCOOPS 2009 Logo (will go on promotional literature and market bags). Credit for work will be given on literature.
7. Texas Farm and Ranch Photographers -
a. Need photos for website of everything from ducks to soup.
b. TOFGA will be hosting Photo Contest at TCOOPS 2009. Need coordinator for the contest.
c. Need persons to donate photos of TCOOPS 2009 for future publication.
8. Need writers to contribute articles for Quarterly Newsletter, monthly e-newsletter and website. Articles about organic and sustainable farming and ranching, producer marketing, and gardening know-how are welcome. Contact Jackie King or Skip Connett, TOFGA Secretary at E-mail address:
9. Need Subject Matter Experts to serve as moderators of forums on new website. Many forums anticipated - to name a few: grants, rural economic development, organic certification, organic production, business planning, composting, marketing, poultry, beef, dairy cows, dairy goats, meat goats, pecans, sheep, fruit, value-added products, related services, cheese, vegetables, greenhouse growing, horse-drawn farm implements, bio-diesel production and many more.
10.Need Media Coordinator Volunteer.
This person will create database of newspapers, radio, magazines, websites and other media in/out of Texas that will publish TOFGA events and news.
11.Need Promotion Coordinator Volunteer
This person will create a promotional program to communicate upcoming TOFGA events through various media. This will include coordinating persons who can write articles and public service announcements promoting TOFGA and its mission and events.
12.Need Contributors of New Ideas - Brainstormers - who wish to promote the mission of TOFGA throughout Texas and yet observe TOFGA's exempt status as a 501(c)(3) organization.
13.Need Additional Community Leaders in each county of Texas! Resources and ideas will be posted on the new website. This is a chance to network with your fellow producers in your county.
14.Regional Director-Region 5 (South Texas-Valley area) - Must be active member of TOFGA. The Regional Director attends all board meetings, communicates what is going on in his/her region, requests assistance from the board for projects, looks for opportunities for New Farmer Workshops, helps find more Community Leaders in each county, communicates with Community Leaders and offers his/her special talents to the board and the overall mission of TOFGA.
