The Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association is hosting its annual conference, All Things Local, January 28th through 30th, 2010 in San Marcos, Texas.  A must-do event for organic growers, the conference features information for organic ranchers, farmers, commercial plant growers, retailers, wholesalers, processors, distributors, consumers, gardeners, and anyone desiring to support the organic industry in Texas. The conference features two days of lectures by many well-known organic experts including:
  • Larry Butler, Boggy Creek Farm
  • Dr. Patricia Richardson, University of Texas, soil ecology
  • Leslie McKinnon, Organic Certification
  • Patrick Lillard, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Programs for Organics
  • Brad Stufflebeam, Home Sweet Farm
Friday night will feature an organic buffet, coordinated by Amanda Love, The Barefoot Cook. The Friday keynote address will be presented by, Brad Stufflebeam, owner of Home Sweet Farm.
Thursday, January 28th, prior to the start of the conference attendees may participate in a variety of local tours including the Texas State University’s composting project and the Montesino Ranch in Wimberley, Texas, a certified organic ranch, farm and CSA serving the Austin area.  Attendees and exhibitors may check in on Thursday and take advantage of a free bus from the conference center to downtown San Marcos for dinner and then return for an evening of roundtables.
